Please note that any such decoration must be made of fireproof material. And remember never to insert items into the combustion chamber itself.

1.8 Is it OK to hang a picture 1.50 meters above the fire?
There is danger of fire if the recommended minimum distances are not complied with. The heat may damage the picture or painting.

1.9 In terms of °C how much heat is produced by 3kW?
Kilowatt is a unit used for measuring heating output and cannot be expressed in terms of °C. The actual temperature varies greatly depending on other factors such as room size and air supply. Since it is an open fire, however, the heat generated is pleasantly warm.

1.10 How hot does the glass get?

Avoid touching the glass when the fire is in operation. Once the flame is extinguished the glass cools rapidly.

1.11 How hot does the combustion chamber get?
Please see Point 2.1

1.12 How hot does it get beneath the FLAMES?
The underneath of the combustion chamber reaches a temperature of around 80°C.

1.13 How hot does the stainless steel surface get?
Although the stainless steel surface does not get extremely hot, you should avoid touching those areas very close to the combustion chamber.

1.14 How should I clean the fire?
Please consult the care instructions.

1.15 Is it OK to use a different bioethanol?
In principal, you can use any make of bioethanol. However, impure ethanol will produce unpleasant residue, heavy staining of the ceramic foam and an unpleasant odor. The bio ethanol supplied by RADIUS DESIGN (536 3L, 5L, 10L) is 96 percent pure bio ethanol denatured using 1% MEK and bitrex.

1.16 Can I also use combustion gel/ paste from a DIY store?

No, the combustion chamber is only designed to take bio ethanol.

1.17 Must I use always the ceramic foam?
Failure to use the ceramic foam results in the fire no longer complying with our safety requirements. We strongly advise against any such modifications.

1.18 Must the ceramic foam be replaced once it is black?
Burning RADIUS DESIGN bioethanol will cause slight discoloration of the ceramic foam, but this is nothing to be alarmed about. When ordering replacements please quote: 536 STEIN 54.

1.19 Must I open the flue if the combustion chamber is stood in an open fireplace?
No, the flue must remain closed during operation. Only when it is closed will the best results be achieved.

1.20 If the fire is out but there is still bioethanol in the combustion chamber must the flaps be left open or closed?
The flaps must remain closed to prevent the bioethanol from evaporating.

1.21 How can I prevent spontaneous ignition?
In order to maintain even flames make sure that the ceramic foam is completely covered by bioethanol.

1.22 When I close the combustion chamber the fire continues to burn at the sides. How can I prevent this from happening?

The small flames can be extinguished easily by quickly opening then closing the flaps. In necessary, this step can be repeated.

1.23 The fire only burns on one side and the flames are not as large as those shown in the images. Why is that?

Please see the answer to question 1.21
